James has been a member of London Rowing Club since 1999 and has had great success in both lightweight and open events. His most notable achievements are winning at HRR in 2006, the 2002 Commonwealth Regatta along with medals at numerous National Championship and Internationals regattas.

James now competes in many other endurance events including cycling, marathons and triathlons.
